Our client, Awesome Doggies Mobile Pet Grooming, had a challenge. The owner was running small ads in local papers, with no idea if the ads were worth their costs. All too often business owners don’t use the technology at their disposal to save money on wasted advertising. But, not this client. The owner is a savvy lady who assertively takes advantage of every new tool. So, what did we do?
1. We created a sub-domain for each ad, so that if the reader went to the business website, we could see it was a result of the paper’s ad.
2. We gave each ad a different phone number supplied by virtual phone receptionist system that would give us reports on each number called. We can look online and see which ads are generating phone calls and what happened to that call. Did the caller hang up, was it forwarded and answered by our switchboard? The system even gives us the number of the caller so we can follow up if needed.
What we discovered, to our amazement, was that some of these ads were actually working! Without the tracking it would be a guessing game. In today’s challenging economy where every dime counts and every lead is precious, critical information that can help you make decision is easier to come by than ever.
